Pijama "Burda Style"

After fixing my son's jeans, I decided to go back to what I was doing before going on vacations. This of being a working mom has something to talk about.
The weekdays are too short for everything and on the weekends I have to wash the clothes, iron it and after this, all I want to do is to relax on the sofa.
Oh, well... I cut the fabric for the top, the upper part.

And I sewed the shorts, the side seams, in the back and in the front. I also sewed the waist line and put the elastic band on it. all that it's left is the hem. I wanted to place a bit of the white fabric in the short's hem. But it will have to go to another day.

Back to school

My son has come back to kindergarden. He has a jeans that he wore last year and he managed to get them a hole in one of the legs. No wonder... what do you expect from a 2/3 year old? Of course, that he crawls, that he plays a lot and that he tears all his clothes up.
I decidid to mend the situation and if it is to damage, might as well damage used and mended jeans than new ones.
It was my first time, and the result was not so good, but I think it got ok.
Here are the jeans and the hole.

I went to a coloring site and I chose some drawings that were simple to do the silhouette.

I chose those which seemed to me to be easier: the fish and the bear and I draw the silhouttes to transparent paper.

Then I pass the silhouette onto the fabric.

And now at this point it's where things got complicated. I made another experience in another fabric to do the thight and large stitch. And after I did the lines of the drawing. It didn't get perfect. And I think it doesn't even looks like a fish.

And hardest part and where it really gor worsen: sew it on the jeans. Maybe I should have sewed by hand, but I tried to make it in the machine and this was the result.

He now has a jeans without a hole in which he can play in the floor, play with his friends, and who knows, tear iit up again (!?)

I'm back

I'm back from my vacations in the Algarve with my two men.
And I have to up-date the side-bar. It's not 33 anymore, now it's 34.
I still have one week at home before I go back to work.
Let's see if I have the time to do something else.

Next Project - Burda Style Pj's

This is my next project and challenge. So far, I've done only tops and blouses

This time I'll do a top and shorts.

The model is at Burda Style site, here, for a free download.

This is the model.

And these are the fabrics that I'm going to use. As I don't have too much of the stripes fabric, I'll do the shorts with it and the top with the english embroidery fabric, and somehow I will mix both fabrics in the model.(maybe the straps or the neckline part).

Let's see how it goes. I hope I finish it, as I'm going on vacations to the Algarve next week.

Top 130 - Finished!

I have finished and I'm soooo happy with the final result!

I followed the indications that Tany sent me. Thank you Tany!

I had all pieces cut, but the lack of time stop me form continue it. Today we were supposed to go to the beach, but it was cloudy, so we satayed at home. I once again took time time while my son was taking the nap and finished the top.

While I was doing, I was seeing that things were actually going well. My husband also helped me, as it was he who woke up the little one and gave the milk, in order that I could finished it today.

I think that the hardest part was the stitching the straps at the back, and making the knots simetrical. The rest was basically easy. I'm willing to do another one for me with another fabric.

As I mentioned previously, this top is for my twin sister. I hope she like's it as much I did the final result.
For now, I'll post photos with me on it, but later I'll post some photos of my sister with the top.

Frustration is...

Having all the blouse sewed and noticed that one of the sleeves was sewed on the outside out.

I was so angry with my distraccion....

It's in times loke this that I think that sewing is not for me. And then I think of giving up and start a new project.

I swear that when it happened, all I wanted to do was start a new one and never look at that again.

I even started unsewing the sleeve in order to sew it right, but I was so angry that I decided to put thing away.

I wne to give milk to my son and play with him. To relax...

Next Project - Top 130 Burda

As I have only time for my sewing on the week-ends, I'll post here my next project.

A promise is a promise and I promised my sister that I would do something for her, when I feel more confortable in this sewing things.

She picked the fabric and the model.
The fabric chosen was this one:

And the model chosen was this one:

The patterns were taken from the site of Burda and they are here to free download. It seems like an easy model. My only doubt is how to sew the V neckline.

After I cut it, how do I sow it? Can somebody help me or indicate me a tutorial that can help me?

Thanks.

Change

I havve changed the blog's template. The other one was prettier, but the pictures look smuged. That is, the colors look more paled than they really are.

Now it gets "brighter"

Blouse Dots 3197

Before I go into new fabrics I started last week another blouse.

I have returned to the basic.

I decided to use the patterns of the sweater 3197 of Burda Style. I used the dark blue fabric with white dots that I used in my previous blouse. I had enough to do another one.

I cut the fabric as usual and pipped. I noticed that once again it was too large on the side seam.

So, I decided to put two ribbons in the side seam to give a fitted look. I think it was a good option.

And from the back

Now comes the hardest part: the sleeves.

New fabrics

I was yesterday at my mom's house to get somethings and she let me take a pick and her case of fabrics that she has been buying for the past years.

I brought these.
