Embroidery T-shirt

Yesterday I went to the supermarket and I bought a pack of 2 t-shirts for € 4,99 for my son.
One had a print on it and the other was plain white.

I decided to give a new look to the white t-shirt. The little fellow picked the design and I embroidered last night.
This was the chosen design:

It's in Bad Bird blog of Andrea Zuill.
My son saw it today morning and He loved it!

Bag for toys

I made this bag for my son for him to storage his Mickey Mouse's"megablocks" that he got on his birthday.

It takes less space than the boxes where the blocks were.

I've only used two rectagules of fabric. The embroidery I've also made myself.

He liked and he also asked me to do one for the set of pirates that he also got.

Burda Stule Pleated blouse - finished

I've finally finished!

I've only managed to end it today.

I liked so much doing it and I thinl the pleating give a whole new look to it.

The sleeves were very easy to make. I made them short and I sewed elastic thread in the bottom.

The neckline although got a little bigger, I think it looks great with the white lycra top underneath.

I had only to rezise it on the side. I was feeling it very large. I also took 10 cm out from the lenght.

While I was taking the pictures, I was feeling really comfortable in it. It's very comfy and beautiful.

Work in progress

I'm not missing.

At this moment I have 2 projects in hands, which are not finished.

The first one is blouse Jennifer 6018 of Burda Style.

I've already cut the fabric, sewed the sleeves and sewed and the side stitches and the shoulders. I've only have to sew the difficult part: the sleeves.
It's like this at this moment.
Doesn't look very nice, but I think after finished it look prettier.
I didn't put the pleated part. Maybe it will have a big neckline. I have to wear a strap top underneath.
Oh, and I'm going to do a short sleeve.

the other one is the a tunic based on another Burda Style pattern, the dress Anda 7969.
I decided to ttry this pattern, as it seems very simple to do.

As it is an experiment, I'm using an old white cotton fabric. The changes to the original pattern are:
- it will be a tunic instead of a dress.
- I'll do a V neckline
- in the waist are I'll do a shirring.

Oh, and I'm embroidering it. So that it won't be too white.

And for the son...

As the skirt took very little time, I made some shorts for my son.

They were really easy to make.

I took the tutorial of another blog: Made by Petchy who teaches how to do a shorts/pants for a child in 10 minutes.

Well... I took longer than 10 minutes. Maybe 30 minutes.

I made without any pattern, just used another shorts as a pattern.

As the fabric is no elastic, I thinl it got to small around the hips. But now I know that iin future shorts I'll make wider around the waist.

The octopus embroidery was taken from the blog BadBird of Andrea Zuill, who make amazing desings to embroider.

I tried to take a decent photo of the little guy wearing the shorts, but he just simply would not stay quiet.

But he loved them and didn't want to take them off. I had to tell him that the would wear them when it's hotter.

However, he already made me some orders. Now he wants another shorts with Mickey and Goofy...

My first skirt

Today I made my first skirt. And I enjoyed making it, as well as the result.

The model is Sidonie from website Burda Style. At this moment you have to pay for the download. Fortunately, I free downloaded before they change their rules.

I took the fabric from what was left for the lining of the bag of my sister.

the changes that I made to the pattern were:

- I didn't place any linig. Didn't think it was necessary;

- And I didn't cut bias, because I hadn't enough fabric and because I think it would ruined the print.

- Didn't place any zipper. I made the larger size and the waist fits like a glove.

I'm not used to wear skirt, as I don't like to show my chubby legs.

But i enjoyed making the skirt and I'll probably do more.

This one, for being the first, anf because it has no lining, I'll wear it on the hot summer days around the house or I'll take to the beach.

It's a great model if you beginning in sewing.

Embroidered Blouse Patrones - Finished!

I finished the blouse and I'm very happy!

I can't say it was easy. It was a very hard-working blouse, but it was worth it.

The pleating and the embroidery give for sure a new look to the blouse.

I think it is beautiful!

I like the length, I decided not to do a hem. I just sew a baby zig-zag stitch and it turned out good.

The hardest part were the sleeves and the neckline. As I wasn't going to place and elastic, the neckline got too large, so I had to do an extra pleat in the sleeves.

I place one bias ribbon to knot in the back, so that it could accentuate the waist.

The fabric is fresh and it's great for the summer.

I like the final result.

Embroidery

As per Ana Carina's request, I'll show you how and where I learnt to make embroidery.

it's simple, very simple. I just went to youtube and made a search for embroidery and wrote "embroidery stitches" and after seeing several movies, these was the most clear one.

I practiced and practiced, and it's even quite easy to learn.
Then I transfer the design on the fabric and embroider over the design.
I use cross-stiched threads.

And I've learnt just a few months ago. Nevertheless, on youtube there are many films with great tutorials on how to embroider.

Another Craft Project - Pompons

For a soccer tournament lauched by my son's kindergarden for Father's Day, we had to do Pompons to support our daddy of the house.

We made two different pompons.

How to embroider

As per Ana Carina's request, I'll show how and where I've learnt to embroider.

It's simple, really simple. I just went to youtube and wrote "embroidery stitches" and after I've seen several films, this one was the most clear to understand.

I practised and in fact it's really simple to learn.

And I've learnt just a few months ago. However, in youtube you can find lots of tutorials about embroidery.

Emboidered Blouse Patrones - 1

The pattern is same as always. Maybe because is too easy and quick to do.

I've cut the pieces and embroidered the front part, as you can see here.

This week "cruising" the shopping center during my lunch break, I noticed this top at Caroll. I fell in love with it. It's so beautiful!

The price is not so nice: € 85,00

So I decided to make something similar. I started doing pleasts in the front , back and sleeves.

The measures used were:

Each pleat has 2 cm and 3 cm between each.

The front and back have 6 pleats each.

The sleeves have 4 pleats on the bottom and 6 on the top.

My idea was to make the pleats like shows in the picture, but I couldn't make it right.

This was the best I could do. It's not the same, but it's almost just the same.

I like just the same.

Meanwhile.... after sewing the pleats in the sleeves, my red thread finished...!

I packed my stuff. It will be on hold until Monday, where I'll buy more red thread.

Tomorrow I'll do something to keep me occupied.

Baby Bib

This weekend I made just this bib to a baby which is going to be born this year.

I'll offer to a friend of mine which after several unfortunate trials, is finally having her baby.

This was my first bib, and thus it did go perfect. And I only hope my friend likes it.

The duck design I took from website Painel Criativo.

And the pattern of the bib was taken from blog Chickpea Sewing Studio.

Another embroidery

I love it. I just love transforming a design into an embroidery.

This one I took from website JMD Designs.

I embroidered the bordeaux fabric and like the pink top with the butterfly, here the seams are going to be in white.

I hope it works.

Pouches

As per my sister's request, I made this pouches in tule. As she is accepting orders for brooches, she thought that it make prettier to give to "her clients" the brooches inside a nice pouche.

So, she asked mt to do it. She gave the tule (I believe that was leftovers from some curtains). First I did one in pink tule very olde to experiment.

Then I found out that if i did the zig-zag stitch very thight in the hem of the fabric, it would look very nice.

So, I decided to play with colours and sewn every pouch with one different colour.

The request was only for 3, but I managed to make one extra.

Here they are.

In my sister's blog you can already see the brooches inside the pouches. However, I post a photo of the same.

Flower Blouse - Patrones finished!

I finished on saturday, but I washed and I was waiting for it to dry.
I loved making this blouse and it's result. I think the red flowers give a new look to the blouse.
There is only one thing that I don't like: I think it got a bit shorter than I'm used to. I like blouses around the hip.
Next time (yes, I'll repeart this model), I'll put more 5/10 cm in the height.

Here you can see some details of the hem and sleeves. The hem line could have gotten a little bigger, because Ileft it so small it was very hard to sew it in the hem.
The sleeves, there are something I'm proud of.

Another challenge

This time I was challenged by Ana.

Here are the rules:
1. Go to your photos archive
2. Go to 6th folder
3. Pick the 6th photo
4. Show that photo in the blog and talk about it
5. Invite 6 new people for this challenge
6. Link them and inform them that they have been challenged.
so, my 6th photo of the 6th folder in my job's computer is this one:

Me and my twin sister, completely crazy at Madonna's concert last year, September 14th 2008 in Lisboa.

Since teenagers we ahve been Madonna's fans and our mom gave the tickets as a birthday present.

We love it!

I challenge anyone for this game.

I'm getting addicted...

In fabrics!

Today during my lunch hour, I wnt to a fabric store near my job. My sister requested a baby fabric so that together with me we coluld make a baby purse for a baby due for this year. I would sew the lining and she would do the outside part with felt.

I bought this one so cute for only €1,70.
And then I couldn't resist and bought also this one grey for me for only €2,30.
Today I saw in the website Burda Style this TOP and found it gorgeous. I'll do a pattern that I saw in the Patrones magazine to do one similar.
